Summer is all about keeping it easy and laid back, but that doesn’t mean your outfits need to be a snooze! Some days a pair of shorts and a simple t-shirt will do, but other days call for a little more. So what do you do when you want to look hot without losing your chill summer vibe? Check out my 5 tips below to turn up the heat on your summer style!
1. Opt for Head-to-Toe White
A full-on white look is fresh, unexpected and makes a statement every time. Look for a breezy silhouette like this Textured Overlay Dress to not only up the goddess factor but also keep you comfy and cool (FYI off-the-shoulder sleeves are basically built in air conditioning, take advantage!).
2. Bust out Your Swimwear
Think about December, when you’ll be pasty and buried under layers, and use it as motivation to wear your swimwear out of the house now while you can! A one-piece swimsuit works just like a bodysuit, and looks great with a loose-fitting bottom like this season’s go-to style, the ruffle wrap skirt.
3. Play with Color
Nobody wants to get wild with extra layers when it’s 90 degrees outside, so keep it simple but keep it bright! From butter yellow to bright red, the best way to do more with less is to dip yourself in a bold color. And why should your clothes have all the fun? Invest in fun, colorful tassel earrings for the extra punch.
4. Embrace a New Trend
Especially if you’re usually more of a minimalist, summer is the perfect time to push your style boundaries. To shake things up, try a trend you like on other ladies but didn’t think was for you. Whether it’s an oversized ruffle or an off-the-shoulder dress, now’s the time! You’ll probably be shocked by how good you feel in something new.
5. Go for a bright lip
Nobody wants to be accused of trying too hard with their summer look, and that goes for makeup too! Try switching up your routine for a clean, paired-back face with a bright lip. Pop Lip in Capri by Clinique + Jonathan Adler is my current go-to for a berry pink pop of color sure to liven up any look!
