ELOQUII Style & Substance

5×5: Suits, Heels & Curves

We’ve been a little sneaky lately! If you’ve been on our website within the past week, you may have noticed that we’ve been up to something. Did you miss it? If you did, we are excited to announce the launch of our new petites collection. To celebrate the newest addition to the ELOQUII family, we’ve enlisted one of our most beloved petite ladies, Darlene from Suits, Heels and Curves, to style our Petite Cinched Waist Faux Leather Jacket along with some of her favorite pieces from the new collection for our next 5×5 series. Darlene is one busy gal, so we were excited when she took us along in her bustling life and showed us how this hot moto jacket hustles just as hard as she does.

“People often ask me what I do for a living, to which I normally respond with either ‘How much time do you have?’ or just a quirky smile. You see, I am one of those people that feels she needs to do everything. I’m sure you know what I mean. Heck, you’re probably one yourself. In simple terms, my career has focused in association management. What is association management? Well, that’s reserved for a longer post. Honestly, not even my friends have been able to figure it out yet.

So, that is what I do by day and by night (or any free time I have in-between), I am a full-time blogger and entrepreneur. I am also a girlfriend, a stepmom, a new aunt, and an avid traveler. I live with my agenda in one hand and my ‘to do’ list in the other, and somehow I try to get it all done.

It’s Friday. For most people that means letting their hair down and prepping for the weekend, but for me, it means playing catch up on pretty much everything in my life. In order to stay ahead of the game, one of the things that I like to do ahead of time is style out my looks for all of my upcoming activities.

The fall crisp air is finally creeping in, so I knew that the Petite Cinched Waist Faux Leather Jacket needed to be a staple item for all of my looks.  This perfect jacket will help me stay warm while looking chic for all of my planned activities.  So with my moto jacket in hand and a full list of errands, I was ready to take over the world! Okay, maybe not the world but at least, my weekend.”

LOOK ONE

“First on my schedule was a lunch meeting for work. As a petite woman, pants (especially stylish pants) are always a struggle when it comes to fit. I literally squealed when I tried the Button Detail Trouser on because no tailoring was needed.  I loved the gold accent on the side and the wider leg. I paired it with the gorgeous Wrap Front Bodysuit for a sleek and polished look. The air conditioning was on full blast at the restaurant so I was extra happy to have my jacket in hand to keep me warm while also looking sleek and polished.”

LOOK TWO

“After my work lunch, I headed back to the office for a full afternoon of meetings – fun, yes I know! After my meetings were done and it was the end of the work day, I changed out of my day look and into something a little sassier for a New York Fashion Week event. If you’ve never been to NYFW, let’s just say that you better serve it with your look. This is the time to really show off your style and be over the top. And I wasn’t going to be left behind.

In order to make a statement, I decided to pair two bold pieces together with the moto jacket: the Studio Faux Leather Pencil Skirt and the Conversational Print Blouse. I finished the look with a fun handbag and funky booties. Unfortunately by the time of the event, the weather had drastically warmed up and my jacket was a little much. I was sweating up a storm! But hey, anything for the perfect look, right? And the look was a hit! By 9pm, my step mommy duties called, and I was heading back home to snuggle up with my family.”

LOOK THREE

“Saturday morning was all about me and the family. Since my mom was in town, we decided to head out early for a little “girl” time. One of our favorite things to do is shop so I threw on some jeans and sneakers and off to the mall we went. At my core, I am a jeans and sneakers kind of girl so I was happy to be comfy and casual. And with the Embroidered Bird Jean and Button Shoulder Stitched Sweater on, I was ready for some retail therapy and quality time with Mom.”

LOOK FOUR

“Back at home and exhausted from shopping, the temptation to cancel Date Night with Bae was real, but I couldn’t do that to my guy. So I quickly jumped in the shower and then put on my Wide Leg Denim Jumpsuit. Ladies, I love jumpsuits and this one being denim made me so happy. I grabbed my jacket, which will now be referred to as my “old faithful” to wear over my jumpsuit. To pump up the look, I topped it with Studio Long Faux Fur Vest. Can we say I was channeling some serious Cookie Lyon? Wow, baby, did I feel fierce in this look! Bae definitely gave it two thumbs up.”

LOOK FIVE

“Finally Sunday! Oh, how I thought I wouldn’t make it! Sunday is all about my blog and my girls. I was up early to style looks to shoot, put away items from the week before and write up blog posts for the week. As you can see, the work never ends.

After taking pictures, the ladies and I went to brunch and I was finally able to decompress over mimosas. The Printed Tie Neck Fit and Flare Dress was just perfect for our afternoon out. It was beautiful, classic and best of all, comfortable. As the weather finally got a little cooler, I was finally able to wear my moto jacket closed. Can I say… I fell in love with it even more.”
