Blogger Spotlight: Meet Dionna from Made Me Pretty

Whenever someone is incredibly supportive, whether it’s on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, or on their own site, we take notice. Dionna caught our eye immediately, thanks to her fun Twitter replies, retweets, and favorites. She instantly won our hearts! Her outfit photos on her blog, Made Me Pretty, are so relaxed that we wish we could spend an afternoon brunching and shopping together at all her favorite spots.  We thought it was time that we get to know the woman behind the happy Twitter avatar. Here’s our interview!

ELOQUII: Tell us about your blog.

Dionna: Made me Pretty is a fashion and beauty blog that chronicles my love of style and beauty finds. I started my blog for a couple of reasons. I had been writing for a publication covering plus size fashion finds in my area, and while this column highlighted the best of plus size clothing in my area, but it didn’t give me an opportunity to talk about my personal style. I get a lot of questions about my style from others, so the blog was a way for me to showcase myself, show women of any size that you can be confident in what you wear, and it's also a chance for me to show a bit of love to the brands I adore.

I’m a small business owner and between that and the column, I didn’t have the time to focus on it. But I’m so glad I finally did! Even though I’ve been a personal stylist for nearly two years, I’ve only had my personal style blog since January. But it’s quickly attracted new followers and that’s really exciting for me.

E: What three spring trends are you excited to wear?

D: Where to begin! Pastels for sure are something I’m definitely looking forward to. It’s so refreshing and feminine, I love it. I’ve also been on the hunt for the perfect pair of flatforms. Anything that can be stylish, funky AND comfortable— consider me signed up! I’m also obsessed with matching print sets. It’s such a bold look, and super chic.

E: What ELOQUII pieces are on your wish list & why?

D: This list is a long one! Top of the list is the Tonal Studded Ponte Dress is mint looks super flattering and this is one of my favorite colors for spring. The Printed Scuba Pencil Skirt has also been on my mind for weeks now. I know its a perfect piece for mixing prints, but I haven’t yet found the right mix top to go with.

E: What’s your favorite piece in your closet?

D: One of my absolute favorite pieces is this beautiful African print peplum skirt I purchased from a designer on Etsy. It’s so chic, polished and versatile.

E: Shoutout time! Who do you love to read or watch & why?

D: I’ve been reading Gabi Gregg’s blog almost from the beginning. I’ve always loved her style and I love what she’s doing. There have also been a few bloggers that have supported me & my business right out the gate which I appreciate, like Marie from The Curvy Fashionista (she was my first Twitter follower!), Georgette from Grown & Curvy Woman; & of course a couple of my international sisters, Susie from Beauty with Plus & Danielle Vanier, to name a few. Each of them has different style, but their writing is accessible, and I love discovering or rediscovering new brands through their blogs!

It’s wonderful to be among these women who are demonstrating to the world that being plus size doesn’t limit your style or limit your ability to be confident and love who you are.

Thanks so much for sharing your point of view with us, Dionna! Follow her on Twitter for a dose of sunshine!
