Sandae Cooke

Sandae Cooke, better known to some as Curvy Girl on the Run, caught our attention with her classic yet always daring style. We love her ability to take classically preppy silhouettes and add bright color and edgy patterns, but we especially love her abundance of #XOQ posts on Instagram! We caught up with Sandae to learn more about her inspiration and how she puts outfits together.

ELOQUII: What inspired you to start blogging?

Sandae: I started showing my #ootd on Instagram and slowly got the itch to start blogging. Once I started, I realized that I was doing what I love to do and that is help people! My mission is to help women everywhere dress the bodies they have and feel confident and good about themselves.

E: How do you choose your outfit on an average day?

S: Good question! I like to find style challenges on Instagram to follow- it helps me pre-plan my outfits on Sunday night and get ready for the week. If I don’t follow a style challenge, I still try to plan ahead wearing things that I love!

E: How do you keep pieces fresh?

S: I am all about wearing things more than one way! For instance, I used to think a dress was a dress but now I also see a skirt with a sweater or top over it or as a jumper with a top under it!

E: Let’s talk accessories–Who’s your favorite accessory designer (other than ELOQUII, of course) and why?

S: I love J Crew and Loft jewelry. I love their unique pieces and they are available online or in the mall. I also love jewelry parties from companies like Stella and Dot, Lia Sophia, and Premier Designs. I am always on the lookout for something different and fresh!

E: We loved your “heart on your sleeve” DIY project! What’s been your most creative or favorite clothing DIY?

S: Most people don’t know this, but I learned to sew when I was in high school. I used to make a lot of my own clothes back then! Now, I don’t have as much time but I love being crafty and am always looking for something fun to do! Even something simple like taking the sleeves off of a jean jacket and making it into a vest are fun to me!

E: What trends are you most looking forward to this spring?

S: I live where it is cold so I am so excited to get out more skirts and dresses! I am loving midi skirts especially!

E: What styles will be forever classic to you?

S: I tend to buy mostly classic items and few trendy pieces. I have had clothes for years that are classic and never go out of style. I love classic dresses like shirt dresses and fit and flare styles, a good trench coat, bow blouses and cardigan sweaters. I also love wearing my strands of pearls!
