Two Pants, Two Ways

Opting for pants over a dress isn't a new idea but one that's definitely worth revisiting – especially during the holiday season. We've all been there: a well-dressed woman walks into a party wearing pants, of all things, and a pang of envy hits. You think, "she might be the most fashionable woman ever."

Enter the "party pant." The right one is flattering, head-turning and incredibly chic. But it gets better: It can even go from a day at the office to that very party. All you need are the right accessories and a cute jacket to dress it up and down. Allow us to explain via two of our favorite styles: the Studio Cropped Velvet Pant and the Studio Kady Fit Brocade Pant.

Let's start with velvet.

Shoes are your ace up the sleeve for adding versatility. Our pick for day? White sneakers. A basic turtleneck or T-shirt topped with a motorcycle jacket made the velvet feel relaxed and cool.

For evening, you're subbing those sneaks for a pump, adding a crisp button-down and lots of long necklaces and accessories. A clutch, of course, ties the whole thing together.

Now, for the brocade.

A  brocade pant is an instant outfit, so to speak, and requires very little work (really!). For day, a flat shoe and a wrap sweater feel casual and comfy.

Evening is all about the menswear thing, but top it off with a great heel. Reach for a tailored blazer and a statement accessory (not too many though, the pants do just fine as the main event!).
