How Does Allison Holiday?
This holiday season, ELOQUII has invited some of our fave friends to share how they holiday, from festive finds to getting ready tips. For some inspiration for your holiday #XOQ, check out an exclusive ELQ&A with Allison of Curvy Girl Chic.
Name: Allison Teng
Location: Orange County, CA
Occupation: Program Manager by day, Blogger by night.
Describe yourself in 5 words: Adventurous, loyal, fiesty, honest, complicated.
Where's the place that you call home? Anywhere with my fiance, dog, and excessive numbers of pillows and blankets.
Let's play word association: "Holiday." Go: Cookies!
Happiest holiday tradition: This is really weird but my family throws a big Christmas party every year and the "kids table" (we're all in our 20s & 30s now) would roast (burn) clementines in the fireplace. Strangely good! And healthier than marshmallows!
Stilletos or flats? Stilletos!
5 things on your wish list? That limited edition, giant, ridiculously overpriced Diptque Baies candle, a big, plushy blanket for snuggling in, more vacation time, more time in general, and anything white peach flavored from the Japanese grocery store!
The best gift to give this year? Anything personal! I'm gifting a lot of skincare based on what I know about my friends' skin types-- the Peter Thomas Roth Mask-A-Holic set is amazing as a main gift, or broken up into stocking stuffers!
Smokey eye or bold lip? Wait...you want me to choose one OR the other?!
Best lipstick on the planet? Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Beetroot
The beauty trick that keeps you beautiful? ALWAYS remove your makeup before going to sleep, drink lots of water, and get as much sleep as possible! If you can't, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is a godsend!
Cheesiest holiday tradition? Christmas jammies! My sister and I always get matching, red holiday-themed pajamas and wear them when we're opening presents on Christmas morning!
What are your secrets for creating the perfect #XOQ? I've got to say-- sometimes more is more! Sequins, sparkles, velvet, lace, I love it all! Start with a statement-making piece, like the amazing dress I'm wearing in my #XOQ, add some sparkly accessories, and top it off with a fun bag. There's no better time than the holidays to go all out, so don't be afraid to mix colors, textures, trends, and just have fun with it!
'Money is no object' gift to yourself? Ohh this is so tough! My first instinct was "designer bag," but if money were no object, I think I'd go on one of those insanely long vacations and travel around the world, puddle jumping from country to country until I've seen (and eaten!) everything on my bucket list!
Best stocking stuffer? Anything beauty-related! Currently obsessed with Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream-- it smells so good, absorbs super quickly, and makes a perfect stocking stuffer at $15!
Most delicious holiday recipe? Not to toot my own horn but...my apple tarts are pretty amazing! Buttery, flaky pastry dough, super cinnamon-y sliced apples, topped with sugar in the raw and a pat of butter, then baked until everything is golden brown--they smell (and taste) incredible and are even better served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Favorite holiday indulgence? Marathon-watching bad Hallmark holiday movies in my pajamas and oversize robe with a solid supply of snacks and hot tea or cider!
Egg nog or red wine? Neither--I'm a spiced (or spiked) cider kind of girl!
Holiday movie on repeat? Love Actually--it never gets old!
