The Fashion Retrospective: NYE Dresses for the Decades

It’s no secret designers find inspiration from days of yore, and our creative director Jodi is no exception - nor should you be, when choosing what to wear on the 31st. Here's how to pull it all together via three of our favorite fashion decades: the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. editorial-decade-dressing_3

‘50s: A fit and flare shape is the hallmark of the look and it really does the retro modern thing best when paired with a small clutch and heels. Add a swipe of YSL Rouge Volupte in Red Temptation and you're set.

‘60s: This look is all about the shift, a shape we love for its versatility (it's one of those day-to-night-type-deals). To channel the feminine vibes of the era, a pink cream blush from RMS and a pale lip by NARS are pretty much requisite. (Not to mention a healthy coating of mascara.)

‘70s: Exposed shoulders, accessories galore, loose hair...this decade is basically defined by its parties, no wonder it's rife for your night-out look. Tools of the trade: great accessories of the fringe and feather variety, dry shampoo (our fave is by Oribe), and a fearless hand when it comes to your eyes.

Countdown starts now: NYE is a week and a half away. To help you get your look sorted, check out our party dresses and get inspired!
