Closet Confidential: Goodbye Style Rut

I’m so excited to be back with another episode of Closet Confidential!

Get ready to meet Briana, a self-professed style rut victim. She needed some fresh outfit inspo for what to wear to work, what to wear on the weekends, what to wear on a date… you know, basically what to wear everywhere!

Since we are transitioning into a new season, I wanted Briana to find some new looks that are great on their own but would also boost her Fall wardrobe. She was open to pretty much anything, and I immediately thought of luxe fabrics (like faux leather & crushed velvet), booties, lightweight jackets & long-sleeved dresses — all my Fall favorites!

We started the day with the floral printed Fit & Flare dress (with pockets!) from my capsule collection with ELOQUII, which she looked and felt drop dead amazing in. This silhouette is so versatile and flattering, I recommend it for anyone. The cut is buttoned up and polished while the floral print keeps the vibe young and fun. It’s perfect for work with a pair of heels, but Briana could also wear it out with friends and just add an embellished bootie and camel coat.

Next up was a weekend look that's comfy but still put together. Like Briana, any woman who’s stood in front of her closet on a Saturday morning unsure what to wear knows it can be weirdly hard to get a weekend outfit right. For me, the perfect Saturday formula starts with a faux leather legging. You get the comfort of an elastic waist and the special-ness of faux leather. We added a striped sweater and floral brocade bomber for a cool, layered outfit that’s ready for everything from brunch to a day of running errands.

Finally, date night! This crushed velvet slip dress was a no-brainer — Briana looked super sexy in it, plus she can also wear it layered over a long sleeve bodysuit for a cute daytime look. The embroidered bootie is one of my favorite Fall trends, and the pattern on this block heel is perfect with the pink dress. Finally, every girl needs a moto jacket and this faux leather version is simple, classic and edgy — a total must have. Would I date her? You bet!!

Briana was willing to try anything and honestly, I think that’s the best way out of a wardrobe rut. Being open to styles, trends and colors that you don't normally wear is key, otherwise it’s easy to end up re-rutted in the same types of things you already own. And what's the fun in that?!

I hope you love the episode and are inspired to try something new! If you’re in a rut of your own shoot me a note at and let me know what’s going on. I would love to help and who knows, you could even be on the next episode of Closet Confidential! :)
